LSY provided laboratory planning and design services for this new LEED Gold building which provides teaching and research space, faculty offices, conference and common use rooms. The state-of-the-art laboratories support both applied and fundamental research in several multi-disciplinary areas including bioengineering, biomaterials, nanotechnology, communications technology and sensor technology. Other specialized spaces include water analysis, flume and water testing, and environmental chemistry labs. The inclusion of flexible laboratory furnishings proactively accommodates future research needs and/or changes in research direction. This was the first research building on campus to gain LEED certification.
