Association for Molecular Pathology (AMP) Office

Bethesda, MD

Project Synopsis

This 6,720 SF office relocation and build-out of existing space was needed to accommodate the Association’s increased employee headcount. The renovation included teaming spaces, workstations, reception space, and ancillary space. The expansion provided a Clean Room Suite for filling equipment and expanded the existing Gowning Lab which previously only accommodated two trainees per session. The Clean Staging lab was expanded to provide an additional pass-box into the new Clean Room, with an Observation Area located adjacent. The project also provided an Equipment Lab for placement of large, floor-mounted equipment and supply storage; Microbiology Lab with capacity for 10-15 students, with fixed bench and sink with shelving above along the East wall; Movable lab tables for maximum flexibility and visibility. Windows added along the south wall allow observation of training sessions.

The renovation added approximately 2,000 SF to the existing space by converting unoccupied offices into laboratories. Clean Rooms were designed to ISO Class 7 and 8 Standards, and built using a panelized system. The work was phased to allow for ongoing operation of existing training labs during construction.
