Medstar Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, DC
Cancer Center – Angiography Imaging Suite
Project Synopsis
This project for the Cancer Care Program at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital involved the modernization of critical patient care areas in the occupied hospital. Careful coordination in planning was required in order to minimize non-functional down-time. The completed renovation replaced an aged angio fluoroscope and linear accelerator with new state-of-the art equipment.
The Angio Fluoroscopy Suite conducts Interventional Radiological (IR) procedures involving Heart and Brain Catheterization. The Linear Accelerator Suite provides radiation therapy in a highly controlled setting, including Total Body Irradiation (TBI) and High Dose Rate Brach therapy (HDR) modalities of treatment. LSY’s design reconfigured the existing Suites including vault and control, reception and waiting areas, to provide improved functionality and more aesthetically-pleasing environments for both patients and staff.
