Facilities Planning Office – NIH

National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD

Project Synopsis

This 4,200 sf renovation provides office space for the Division of Facilities Planning at the National Institutes of Health. The planning office manages and provides master planning for NIH-controlled campuses and facilities nationally. This project had been designed three times in two other locations. The area finally designated for the project had previously been a machine shop and required extensive demolition for the conversion to office space. The completed project provides fourteen private offices, three administrative desks, one large plotting room with flat file storage, a kitchenette, copy room, lobby, conference room, and a storage closet for rolled drawings for four departments. Light wells built into the ceiling around the windows allow for maximum utilization of available natural light.
