National Institute on Alcohol Abuse MRI Scanner Suite

National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, Bethesda, MD

Project Synopsis

This renovation was completed within the NIH Clinical Center to provide a Scanner Suite and corresponding Office Suite for the Laboratory of Neuroimaging (LNI) within the National Institute on Alcohol and Alcohol Abuse (NIAAA). The LNI’s work includes significant research in brain structure, function and connectivity in humans using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Positron Emission Tomography (PET). The Scanner Suite accommodates an imaging room which houses a Prisma 3Tesla MRI scanner, control room, equipment room, and a patient exam room. The 1,582 sf Office Suite provides four private offices, a conference room, kitchenette, and workstations for seven post-doctoral students. The space has an “open design” to facilitate interaction between scientists and support staff.
