NMR Imaging Installation

National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, Bethesda, MD

Project Synopsis

This project involved modifications to an existing nuclear magnetic resonance room and immediately adjacent rooms necessary to remove an existing 4.7 Tesla magnet and prepare for delivery and installation of a new 9.0 Tesla magnet. The design provided a temporary opening and subsequent replacement (closure) construction of the exterior wall sufficient to allow for delivery of the new magnet and removal of the old device. Careful magnet placement using a BIM modeling insured the 5-Gauss line was contained within the magnet room.
