National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, Bethesda, MD
Scientific Directors Suite – National Institute of Neurological Disorders
Project Synopsis
This phased renovation was necessary to consolidate personnel and involved 3,355 sf of the existing NINDS Office of the Director Suite. The project was completed within an occupied building and provides a reception area, an open office area, a conference room, combined copy/kitchen area and executive offices at the perimeter. The design positions the enclosed offices along the building’s exterior walls, with a central open space housing the reception area, open office cubicles for administrative assistants, and a file storage area. The reception area features a curved glass panel partition which separates it from the administrative space. The use of textured glass provides translucent privacy. Enclosed offices have glass inset doors with sidelights in the partitions which further allows natural light to filter into the interior spaces.
