UMBC Administration Building Lecture Hall Renovation

University of Maryland Baltimore County, Catonsville, MD

Project Synopsis

This project renovated a lecture hall in the Administration Building. Architecturally, the work included installation of new seating with new finishes, new flooring, a new wall behind the instructor lectern, and the addition of ADA access at the front of the room. An existing projection booth was removed, and lights and lighting controls were replaced to current standards.

Electrical upgrades included providing power for an electrical raceway beneath each row of seats, replacement of aisle and room lighting and controls, providing new emergency lighting, and design of a new fire alarm system. Mechanical engineering services were provided to relocate air devices, while utilizing existing ductwork, and blending in with the new ceiling tiles. A new 4” fire protection service now enters the building into the existing mechanical room.
