University of Maryland Medical Center Anatomic Pathology Laboratory Renovations
Project Synopsis
This project involved approximately 18,000 SF of space including administrative and lab processing areas. LSY provided architectural and engineering master planning services to support the Anatomic Pathology Renovations project. The work involved developing a comprehensive master plan to define a multi-year program to renovate space for UMMC’s Anatomic Pathology Department. A full program of requirements was developed that identified major projects and a proposed execution strategy for completing the work. This included an integrated multi-year program master schedule with project elements with required enabling actions. A full program budget was developed and overlaid on a timeline to assist the medical center in the development of cash flow projections. Each distinct project that was defined was further detailed by a written scope of work, conceptual cost estimate, and a project schedule.
LSY also provided a gap analysis to evaluate the sustainability of the renovated facility against LEED silver renovation criteria. UMMC did not intend to pursue LEED certification, but instead used the information as a means by which to consider adding sustainability features. The LSY team worked closely with in-house planning and design as well as project management as components of a Project Execution Team. We facilitated meetings of a larger Project Stakeholder Workgroup which included regular meetings with all stakeholders including the users.
