Conference Center for the Office of the Associate Director for Water
Project Synopsis
The USGS National Center campus is located on 105 acres. It was built in 1973 to provide sound science, technical and administrative support, and dissemination of information to promote science-based decisions. This project renovated and expanded existing space to create an Executive Conference Room to support the Water Mission Area.
The renovation focused on joining eight adjacent rooms with an existing conference room to create a new executive conference room with a butler’s pantry and storage to support. The work also involved two other areas on the 5th floor — design of a break room adjacent to the conference room and design modifications to the existing Associate Director’s Suite.
The A/E design team worked with the USGS staff to validate the conference room space, Audio/Visual and Information Technology requirements. Three conceptual layouts were provided for the new executive conference room and the preferred concept served as the basis for the schematic design.
