Project Synopsis

Constructed in 1936, Building 6 is the oldest operational research laboratory on the NIH Bethesda campus and is used as a central resource for conducting studies in mutagenesis and genetic research. This renovation provides a state-of-the-art research facility for the National Eye Institute, National Institute of Child Health, National Human Genome Research Institute, and National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive Kidney Diseases.Within the floor plate of the historic building, open plan laboratories replace isolated single module labs to create a highly collaborative work environment shared by these institutes.
